This Victorian style home had character baked into its exterior, but its open concept interior rang hollow of this 1896 home’s original charm. We reconfigured the first-floor layout by framing new interior partition walls. To accommodate the new layout, we moved electrical and plumbing locations and repaired the hardwood flooring which spanned the entire first floor. To the main living room we added custom flex trim moulding and a marble fireplace surround to re-install some character. In the color-drenched family room, we built custom cabinets to create a colorful storage solution that blended into the room’s design. In the kitchen we removed windows looking into the neighbor’s home and installed new countertops. Leading up to the house, we removed the sloping concrete steps that became treacherous in the wintertime. We entirely rebuilt the front steps and replaced the front door and brick moulding to match. We repainted the historic trim header above the front door. We tiled the floor and refinished the original staircase with new spindles, a railing and newel post. On the second floor we entirely remodeled the primary bedroom, primary bathroom, laundry room, office and children’s bedroom.
